Airline Services Ltd has been established for over 25 years, providing aircraft presentation and cabin interior support services to the airline industry. The business was originally founded in 1984 by Alan Sixsmith, a licensed engineer for Britannia Airways and one of the first people in the UK to hold a license on the B737.

In the mid-eighties Alan saw that the new breed of low-cost charter airlines were more inclined to outsource certain aspects of engineering and ramp services than the traditional carriers. By offering a flexible, reliable, innovative and low-cost service for exterior washing and technical cleaning as well as engineering support to a number of UK airlines, particularly those based at Manchester Airport, the newly formed Airline Services responded to a clear need in the market - thereby establishing the core principles of the company which continue to this day.

These initial services were soon boosted by a seat cover and curtain shop and a laundry also based at Manchester and soon Airline Services was developing a solid reputation for service and value for money.

With the emergence of Airtours (later MyTravel, now Thomas Cook), headquartered at Manchester Airport but with aircraft based all over the UK, Airline Services expanded rapidly during the 1990s, with expansion of the Manchester facilities and the opening of a number of other UK bases at major and regional airports providing a range of ramp-based services.

During this period Airline Services also successfully expanded into aircraft de-icing at a number of UK airports and today is the leading provider of de-icing services in the UK.

From 2000 onwards, as a natural and complimentary extension of Airline Services’s focus on aircraft interiors, the company developed and expanded its EASA Part 145 approved Engineering and Workshop business, performing inspection, repair, overhaul and modification of Passenger, Crew and Pilot seats, and Galley, IFE and Avionic equipment. These services were backed up by the establishment of a Materials Purchasing and Logistics team and a Design office with EASA Part 21 J and G approval.

In 2006, the company underwent a management buy-out led by the then MD, now Group CEO Bryan Bodek and a dedicated team of directors and staff.

In 2007 a sister company, Airline Services Components Ltd (ASC) was founded to provide rotable component support for B737 series and A320 family aircraft. Based in London-Gatwick (LGW) this business has expanded rapidly to become a well known and respected supplier to airlines around the world (link to ASC site).

During the same period, Airline Services continued to expand its existing business and moved into two new areas of business:

Aircraft Turnaround Cleaning - a high quality service based on Airline Services’s reputation for reliability and attention to detail.

IFE Products and Support Services - a range of lightweight, digital, plug and play IFE products designed to deliver cost effective analogue to digital retro-fit conversions, and On-Wing diagnostic and trouble-shooting support for all major IFE systems at a range of locations worldwide.

Today, Airline Services uniquely provides an unparalleled range of services in the area of aircraft presentation and cabin interior services.

By combining EASA Part 145, Part 21 J and Part 21 G approvals to good effect and consistently providing a high quality service, investing in technology and innovating its service offering Airline Services has developed into a respected and preferred supplier to the aviation industry.
